Work organization

    How not to mix up samples

  • dispense samples only in signed tubes;
  • put tubes always in the same order both on the table and in centrifuge;
  • load samples on the gel always from left to right;
  • use clear distinguishable names. In this respect names "a","b","c","d" is a bad choice, because "a" and "d" looks similar. SOmetimes, it is more convenient to give a temporal names, than to use original ones (they mey be too long, or too similar, etc.);
  • sign both tube and cap if
    • cap is removable;
    • you work with organic solvents (ethanol, isopropanol, chlorophorm, etc.).
  • parallel work with several samples accelerates the process. But if the number of samples is too big, it is more practical split them on several groups and process groups one after another;
  • to prevent pellet dissapearance always put tubes into centrifuge with cap-tailes oriented outside;

  • Automatic pipettes

  • check one per month for leakage;
  • do not put on the table with liquid in tip;
  • if liquid come inside of the pipet: pipet should be opened and cleaned;
  • do not use pipette for strng acids;

  • Safe work (links)

  • PCR-contamination safe work;
  • RNase-contamination safe work;
  • steryle work (russian);
